My next door neighbor friend and I adore hummingbirds and are fortunate and blessed enough to have many of them feeding at our houses. We each have 6 feeders up, and they are emptied every 1-2 days. I initially began to see hummers in early April here, but I would only see 2-3 at a time. Then, in the 3rd week of July, they came in droves. I would speculate that there were at least 50-60 of them flying and feeding between our 2 houses all day long. There seemed to be a large number of immature males. The hummers are still here in large numbers, but we believe that some have gone on south and new ones have come in. We also have misters which we run for them. They seem to be most active when it's overcast and drizzling. We probably have at least 30 right now. We have been handfeeding the hummers since July. It has been a thrilling summer, and we will certainly miss them when they go.
