Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/30/2008

Number: 30

Our home is on a hillside between Albany and Breckenridge. About 5 P.M. I noticed a single Monarch on Turk's Cap. Looking toward North and East I could see one, two, or more flying over. Some very high and others lower. Counted at least 30 or 40 in one hour. There is a large creek below our hill. Near sunset Monarchs landed in Mesquite trees in yard. I counted 20-30. No wind with cool front that passed early in the morning.
