Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/01/2008

Number: 1

From 10:15AM to 10:45AM we saw 299 Monarch butterflies pass over our house. While most were flying south, some where flying north. Others seemed to be flying around in a circle. Several landed in our yard and ate from the flowers in our grass.

I have been keeping track of how many monarchs we have seen in a 30 min period since 10/01 in order to compare with the amount we saw. Each day I have counted about 30 to 40, and all of these days have seemed to be significantly less than what we were observing on 10/01.
