Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/01/2008

Number: 1

The migration is definitely on here. I am seeing about 100 monarchs an hour coming through, mostly in small groups. Winds are light and westerly, temperature in the 70's. BFs are traveling below 40 feet and some just above the ground. I have about a dozen at a time in my yard stopping to nectar before going on. Some are not stopping and are continuing to move south. They appear to be having trouble catching currents to help flight.
