Today was a partly cloudy, windy day. Temperature was 57 degrees which was 28 degrees cooler than our reading last month. The trees are beginning to show signs of color change, yellow and red leaves predominate. The students noticed a lack of birds in the area and very little activity by squirrels. More leaves were on the forest floor than last month and they couldn't find signs of insect activity on or around the trees. Days are getting shorter, length of sunlight today will be 11 hours and 23 minutes.
