Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 10/06/2008

Number: 100

Saw an influx of monarch over the weekend in the Fort Worth area. Most were hunkering down out of the wind on Saturday (10/4/08) and Sunday (10/5/08), only headed south-southwest when disturbed. Monday (10/6/08) collected about 15 in 30 minutes nectaring in a field of goldenrod around 6:30 p.m. to dusk. Checked a line of hackberry for roosting and observed about 100 along tree line with no tight clusters.
