Tulips PLANTED

Date: 10/03/2008

Number: 1

Today the sixth grade classes at School 16 planted 45 bulbs. Our site is under the flagpole in front of our school (which faces NNE). This is not the ideal spot, as it is shaded for most of the day, but the best we could do in an urban setting. We had beautiful sunny, warm (high 60s) weather and found many earthworms and some Japanese beetle grubs. Our soil is mostly clay. The leaves are turning colors and we have had cold nights, but not a killing frost yet.
