Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 10/05/2008

Number: 1

Our last Hummer left on October 5th. He had been the only one here for about a week. He was a youngster and seemed quite content just to sit on the branch of our Sand Cherry bush and fly the foot and a half or so to the feeder every few minutes. Our temperatures were getting down into the very low 30's at night and I was getting worried about him. Hopefully he made if safely to a warm home for the Winter. I had hoped to see some others stop by as they were migrating, but haven't. I will leave my feeders up for at least another two weeks.

I will miss them and look forward to Spring and their return.
