Sightings are in the Texas Hill Country on the north shore of Lake Travis near Lago Vista, TX which is about 30 minutes northwest of Austin, TX. I have noticed the butterflies while I am hiking among the cedar trees. I usually see from 1-6 at a time. They flutter then land in a cedar tree then are off again. I notice them at all different times of the day. Late evening is when I noticed that they roosted in the trees with their wings folded up.
Editor's Note: This observer did not specify the number of monarchs present. We entered 'one' in the number field only to mark this record for future consideration.
