Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/13/2008

Number: 1

I have a good friend who is vacationing at Holden Beach on the North Carolina coast, close to the city of Shallotte. The home she's staying at is right on the beach and she called today to report that there were several dozen Monarchs nectaring on some flowers next to the house and around that area, along with other butterflies. She didn't count them but was amazed at how many there were. From her description it sounds like some migrants might be moving through there.
