Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 10/14/2008

Number: 1

We have been having strong south winds so the monarchs must be seeking shelter. I have only seen two in the last three days. I would like to post a photo of one stopping for a sip of nectar. It was feeding on local flowers on the north side of a series of bush/tree area away from wind on the 5:30 pm Oct 12 with wind south at 20mph. Today, Oct 14, 2008, a single was seen lofting slowly SW in the mild wind (Noon, 4 mph variable wind, temp 61f and dew point of 59f.) with a cold front moving away to the north. It was beautiful but gracefully slow!
