Tulips PLANTED

Date: 10/15/2008

Number: 1

The bulbs looked like big Hershey's kisses as we set them in the ground. Each bulb did have a unique shape. The soil was rocky and hard in places. We broke up the soil with hoes, rakes, a pitchfork, and small shovels. When we finally dug down the seven inches, the soil was soft, black, and moist. It also felt cooler. We planted our bulbs in a rectangular garden about five feet long and three feet wide. Each planting was marked with a popsicle stick. This garden is in a sunny, flat area behind our school.
