Tulips PLANTED

Date: 10/16/2008

Number: 1

We planted our tulips on Tuesday October 14. The temperature was reaching to about 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
The time of day that we ended up doing this Journey North project was usually in the morning or in the early afternoon. Tuesday was kind of shady, but not too bad for going outside to plant the gorgeous tulips that would be coming up to the blooming point in the springtime. We had our own little method for planting our tulips as well. First, we measured the garden holes so that each hole was exactly 7 inches deep, and 4 inches apart. We put in about 36 bulbs for the experiment. To the holes we added bone meal and Wheelock`s famous “black gold” compost from our good old cafeteria food scraps mixed with leaves. We are all excited for the first frost and covering up the bed with leaves for the winter. By: 5th Grader Kiana Bowen
