Our 6th-8th graders love this project! We were careful to keep our butterfly habitat clean and filled with young milkweed, then fresh flowers. When the organisms became chrysalises, we named them; next year we'll used colored dots instead of post-it notes for this. We saved the handful of dead chrysalises in a jar and watched Tachinid Flies hatch from some of them; they were destroyed. Our school tagged and released more than 250 butterflies, and we hope they will all arrive in Mexico! Gracias!
