We had 5 days this week of temp around 80, sunny, slight breeze. We used up our tags at the Duke Power World of Energy about 9 mi. north of Seneca (Mon & Tues.) and most at the SC Botanical Garden on the Clemson U. campus in Clemson Wed-Fri). There were many monarchs there. All that we tagged were females. They were nectaring on a white buddleia (White Profusion, I think). As the shrubs were very tall and on a slope, it was hard to reach the monarchs with our short net as they seemed to stay near the top of the shrubs.
Then found 2 in our own garden Friday afternoon, one freshly emerged.
