We're experiencing a goodly flow of monarchs drifting through on very slight air movement (noon). They are all moving due South. No front here yet, maybe later this evening. 86dF.
From 11:46 through 12:23 (37 minutes) we had 115 monarchs moving through a 60' wide space.
The first minute we had 11 monarchs, the the next busiest was 7. Just over 3 per minute average.
What I don't know is when the flow started.
The front came through here at 4:22 p.m. Lots of bluster and all the monarchs that had been drifting around got blown south.
Doubtful that we'll have even small clusters in the trees tonight.
Randy L reported that he had a pasture on the Fournier Ranch at the north end of Quemado Valley with more than 1,500 nectaring on Coreopsis at sunset.
