Signs of Fall

Date: 10/24/2008

Number: 1

On Oct. 22, our meter stick at noon measured a shadow of 63.5 inches. One month before it measured 44 inches. It is getting longer because the sun is moving further south. We predict that next month it will be even longer.
The tree that we are observing (Calif. Black Oak) is changing colors. About 2/3 is now yellow, orange and red, with only 1/3 still green.
We see frost in the morning, and some ponds freeze at night.
