Signs of Fall

Date: 10/28/2008

Number: 1

We hardly saw any robins this past spring and summer. However, now we're getting lots of robins every day at the birdbaths...there's often a waiting line for the water. Our mountain ash has more berries than usual, so they have an ample Fall food source here.

Flocks of geese are back, and landing on the small lake down the hill from us. We haven't seen the chipmunks in awhile now, but they might come back up if there's a warm day. Yesterday we had our first trace of snow. There are squirrels all over visiting our ground feeders. Many babies were born here this past spring and summer.

The woodpeckers are visiting the suet feeder more frequently and the juncos are back. I heard a nuthatch this morning, and several red wing blackbirds the past few days.
