Signs of Fall

Date: 11/07/2008

Number: 1

Today’s temperature was 69 degrees F. Mostly clear skies with a few cumulus clouds. Winds were blowing leaves off the trees. We were caught in the middle of a leaf shower! Leaf colors were mostly yellow, orange, red and brown. Not as many trees were green today. Pine trees and magnolias are still green, of course. Tree colors: Poplar-yellow; Dogwood-red; Beech-mostly green with a little yellow; White oak-red, green and browns; Sweet gum-yellow, red, green, purple, orange; Maple-red, yellow. We saw a few berries on the partridge berry. The hearts-a-bursting were still hanging on. There were spores on the club moss. We saw a green anole (but it was gray/brown in color) and one yellow jacket. We heard one crow and some other unidentified little bird.
