On an unseasonably warm and sunny day, 42 preschool students planted our 50 red emperor tulip bulbs. The chidren were as excited to don rubber boots and garden gloves as they were to dig their holes. Many children were thrilled to find worms and grubs in the ground and eagerly shared their discoveries with friends. They found it important to plant the bulb pointy end up and give it a spoonfull of bone meal food. Now our garden is full of craft sticks marking the planting spots, but we are hopeful we will see our tulips in spring.
