The 7th graders at Tremont Middle School planted 87 tulip bulbs on November 5, 2008. The temperatures were unusually warm with afternoon highs in the lower 70s. We planted 27 tulips in a control garden following all controls in the experiment. We also planted an experimental garden with 9 tulips upside down, 9 tulips 4 inches deep, and 9 tulips 9 inches deep. In addition we planted bulbs on a north facing slope, on a south facing slope, next to the building, and in full shade.
