Signs of Fall

Date: 11/21/2008

Number: 1

Today’s temperature was 41 degrees F and it was windy making it feel colder. It was colder in the shade than in the direct sunlight. We saw a woodpecker making a nest in a dead tree. The trees were waving back and forth in the wind. Many trees have lost there leaves and we don’t see as many colors as we saw last time. We can also now see a house through the woods. There are lots of leaves on the ground. The beech tree leaves are now golden, orange/brown in color and are still hanging on the trees. Since the last time we saw the resurrection fern, the leaves have curled up and they are dry. We heard a few unknown little birds. The beautyberry has lost its leaves but still has a few berries. The partridge berries and hearts-a-bursting still have a few berries also.
