Tulips PLANTED

Date: 11/19/2008

Number: 1

The first and second graders from Miss Ankeney's, Miss Weser's, and Mrs. Ludolph's classes planted 99 Red Emperor tulips. We picked our planting site because it was:

-Sunny,
-Had average temperature for Miamisburg,
-Was more than 15 feet away from the buildings,
-Had soft soil,
-And in a place that would not get walked on.

We weighed our bulbs using a balance scale and gram weights. Willow's bulb was lightest, at 21 grams. Aaron's bulb was heaviest, at 35 grams. The weather was sunny and 28 degrees Fahrenheit. We measured 7 inches deep and spaced our bulbs 4 inches apart. The tulips need water to grow. We predict our flowers will bloom on March 30th, 2009. The tulips came from Holland.
