About 11:30am saw a very fresh-looking female monarch resting on a leaf of night-blooming jasmine. Was able to get to within a foot of her before she flew off, only to light again a few feet away on the leaf of an orchid tree. Temps in the mid-sixties. Haven't seen any activity around my milkweed (curassavica), some of which is blooming, others setting seed. My phone rang and when I returned she was gone. She's the first monarch I've seen since Spring.
