Robin (First SEEN)

Date: 01/05/2009

Number: 1

After an appointment in Carmel, Indiana, I was driving along a tree-lined lane dusted recently with newly fallen snow. It was 34 degrees – warmer than usual for a central Indiana January – when I was startled by a frisky robin that swooped gingerly in front of my car before settling in a large tree.

Fortunately, only a small portion of the old growth woods surrounding the business complex I visited had been disturbed by construction. The woods and a neighboring pond are adjacent to a city park and apparently, the residents wish to leave the undeveloped area as is. A few private homes were tucked into the wooded area, and each had bird feeders available for overwintering birds. Obviously, the frisky robin had a good plan for the New Year, and a wonderful place in which to carry it out!
