Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 01/15/2009

Number: 1

There is a flock of approximately 30 robins feeding on berries around our school. They were confined to a protected courtyard at first, but have now moved to an area behind the school. This is the earliest I have ever seen robins in Western New York. My records indicate my first spottings over the years to be mid to late February. This little flock is quite plump, although the extreme cold temperatures may have their feathers fluffed out for warmth. Today, the high temp. is 5 degrees F. The birds are extremely active and lively.
