Red-Winged Blackbirds are common wintering birds in my area, and we saw several hundred of them on our Benicia Christmas Bird Count December 15, 2008.

I was driving north of town on 1/15/09 and saw a flock of 30 red-wings flying together near the California Fish and Game's Garibaldi Goose Preserve.
