Tulips PLANTED

Date: 11/21/2008

Number: 1

Mrs. Perkin's fifth grade students planted their tulips inside the courtyard which is near their classroom. The day was chilly, but the students worked diligently to plant all their tulip bulbs in three raised triangular flower beds. Mrs. Perkins and Miss Krebs, their student teacher, also helped plant tulips. Some students planted more than one tulip bulb. The students marked the locations of their bulbs by writing their names on white plastic forks and putting the forks in the soil near their bulbs. The students enjoyed planting their tulips in the courtyard. On Friday, January 30th, they mulched their tulips with straw to protect them from the harsh Kansas winter.
