Robin (First HEARD singing)

Date: 02/05/2009

Number: 1

I only heard one robin singing from up high in an evergreen tree in my yard mid-afternoon, but did not see it at that time (saw one later in my crabapple tree, probably the same one). Sunny day, but only 11 degrees, no precip.

if you listen to "song" (territorial), the very first series of 4 notes sounds the most like it. It repeated that series of 4, high note - med note - lower note - high note, over and over. I have one of those little stuffed animal robins that sing the actual call (Audubon series) - sounded just like that. The fact that I saw the robin about 30 min later really confirmed it for me. I hear lots of birds in my backyard today (2/07)and the temps are supposed to rise. We had alot of snow recently, so I hope that won't lead to flooding. I forgot to mention in my report that we had approx a foot of snow on the ground that day, if that is any help to know.
