Well, the weather in Oregon really messed up our phenology measurement of the meter stick. The week before Winter Break was "snowed out" (very unusual for our part of Oregon), so we had no school for over 3 weeks. We missed the Winter Solstice measurement no school, and no shadows due to cloud cover. Our best guess is that it would have been over 100 inches.
We did measure the meter stick at noon on 1/21/09 and it measured 78 inches.
