Bald Eagle

Date: 02/14/2009

Number: 1

We saw 4 bald eagles at the Merrimac River Eagle Festival. They were fishing in the open water off of Deer Island, Amesbury, MA. The Audubon facilitators had telescopes set up for the children to get better views. Our elementary school age kids were thrilled with the close-up views of eagles! One eagle snatched a fish from a seagull in flight. Another dove for a fish and flew off to eat it in the pine woods. Two adult eagles perched on the same tree. It was fantastic to see these birds in their natural habitat.
