This has been the absolute furthest I've gone into the year in a long, long time, without seeing or hearing a robin! However on this beautiful, sunny early February day when I was visiting the National Zoo (where I'm a volunteer eleven months of the year), I was most delighted to finally HEAR a robin calling from its tippy-top tree perch. And while I tried and tried and tried to spot it, I was unsuccessful...it was quite breezy and the robin wasn't being ultra-vocal yet, and then a bunch of noisy starlings flew in, and there went that! But what a welcome sound while it lasted!
