Several people have reported seeing eagles feeding on deer carcasses this week--on the Gravesville Road near Russia Road and Hinckley Road, off NY Route 8 east of Barneveld. I drove up this afternoon and 3 of us watched one mature bald eagle feast on a carcass in a field about 100 yards from Gravesville Road.

I later talked to the outdoors writer of our local newspaper (the Observer-Dispatch in Utica) and he said he has gotten a lot of reports of bald eagles at this location. He has also spotted them at Delta Lake near Rome and Oriskany Creek between Oriskany and Whitestown.
