Sighted several birds near the road while driving; as I slowed one flew across the road and appeared to be a robin. Naturally, this being only early February, I had my doubts about what I was observing. However, when I slowed almost to a stop I took a good look at the remaining birds and ascertained that they were indeed robins. Two days later I spoke with a neighbor in nearby Wheatfield, New York who told me that he had seen three robins in his yard. We were both amazed, as his records showed that the earliest robin sighting in his yard was, on average, the 10th of March!
