For the first winter ever I have been raising Monarchs like crazy. 19 have already hatched and one female came back and laid eggs and now I am raising her eggs. All but one caterpillar has turned into a chrysalis and 2 have hatched and been released over this weekend. I don't believe these are migrating Monarchs. I think they are the Florida subspecies that does not migrate. I also have a theory that Monarchs remember where they were born and it is hard-wired into the brain so future generations return to the area their parents, grandparents etc came from. Yet to hatch and be released are 14!
