Monarch Egg (FIRST sighted)

Date: 02/24/2009

Number: 1

I watched a female and two males around our curassavica bed in the backyard during the middle of the day. Thru binocs the female was larger and much more faded than the two males. I watched on and off for a couple of hours as she visited the stalks of curassavica that have new leaves then didn't see her again. Altus and I just went out onto the deck and Altus checked the new growth and found six eggs.
It was getting dark so some eggs may have been missed, but these are first we've found in late Feb.
