The Maples in East Central Ohio have started to produce sap, others (silver)appear to be nearing bud breakout. I haven't tapped in over 40 years, but it became an interesting project for my seven year old and I. We tapped two 3 pail sugars this day and plan on 4 or 5 more tommorow. We are eager to tast the wonderful woody nutty tast of real maple syrup.
