A snow storm is just ending, with a total accumulation of 10 inches of snow. Minutes ago, I saw the first Red-winged of the year - a male - perched for several minutes on our hanging feeder. Yesterday, I heard our first Grackle of the season, calling high in an oak tree. I usually see combined flocks of Redwings and Grackles heading north this time of year.
