My husband and I built 3 gardens last Spring for birds and butterflies for the warm months. Since last year was our 1st year having these gardens, we were very happy to have attracted over 20 varieties of butterflies and just about as many birds. We have a solar powered birdbath which we bought a heater for the winter months. Our gardens have various Salvias, Sunflowers, Honeysuckles, Coneflowers, Crocosmia, Canna, Cosmos, Pentas, and Bee Balm. We also have 7 Butterfly Bushes and 9 Hummingbird feeders all around our property. Since we only had Milkweed and Dill as host plants for the butterflies last year, we're adding several more in a new additional garden we'll be building this year which will include Cassia hebecarpa, Spicebush, False Indigo, Purple Prarie Clover, Violets, Pipevine, False Nettle, Rue and Passion Flower.

Late October we added a row of various seed and suet feeders which most will be kept up year round. So far we've had 5 pair of Northern Cardinals, 12+ Juncos, 50+ House Sparrows, 50+ Starlings, 12+ Morning Doves, 80+ American Goldfinches, 4 Blue Jays, 2 American Crow, 15+ House Finches, a Downy Woodpecker, and 6 squirrels!
