Eagles are common here throughout the winter. Most are seen in the Oahe Downstream Recreation Area, just below Oahe Dam. The dam keeps the water open, which brngs in thousands of Canada geese. The eagles feed on dead geese and fish that are pulled through the dam. They roost in large cottonwoods along the river.
