Red-winged Blackbird (FIRST sighted)

Date: 02/28/2009

Number: 1

i live on a small lake 10 miles away from hawthorne, fl i put bird seed for the birds and corn out for the squirrels. there are reeds and grasses growing at the lake edge and there is where the red-wing blackbirds are every year. it is only recently that i checked and found the females look very different. The young chipping sparrows are here and the female comes up at the same time. they seem to be somewhat compatible in the eating area. this is my first attempt to report a sighting.
