Yesterday, in Dolgeville, I heard the first okalee song coming from a flock of Black Birds on a tree. It was raining out and they were high up, so I couldn't see the field marks and silhouettes very well. I couldn't confirm if it was a redwing, because of the imposters in the flock called starlings. I have to beware of them. They fooled me before with thier mimics of robins, flickers and red tailed hawks.
Today, I went out to find the redwings. Finally, I found them with robins and starlings 1 mile northeast of Manheim Center 2 miles south of Dolgeville. I could clearly see the red epaulet on one. Then, I went to Manheim Center to help on a farm. there I saw an individual redwing sitting on top of a tree oaklaeeing seprated from any flock. From around 4:00pm to 6:30pm I heard the okleeing intensify as other redwings joined in. Also the song sparrows were singing and several flocks of Geese were flying over head. This was an area of farm land, ponds, and streams on the northern rim
