Just a quick heads-up for those interested in seeing Rufous Hummingbirds in Orange County. The pink-flowered eucalyptus tree behind my house has been jammed with Selasphorous hummingbirds recently, and a couple minutes of sorting through them this afternoon produced at least two male Rufous Hummingbirds. Most of the birds were females, probably a mixture of Rufous and Allen's. So, if you want to see a Rufous, keep an eye on your feeders or closest eucalyptus tree over the next several weeks.
