Maple Syrup (FIRST Sap Run)

Date: 03/07/2009

Number: 1

yippee!! hurray!! - my son and son-in-law are here today putting out the rest of the maple taps - the sap is running sooooo well today! the temperature was over +10C and the sun is shining. It feels like spring. you can hear the heart beat of the maple trees when you listen to the trees today and when the trees are tapped, the sap is pulsing out of the spile. there isn't much snow left in the bush and we are thinking that it may be a short season this year...we shall see! I have been collecting sap from my 'medicine' maple tree since the full moon in february, but that tree is a special one, right along the edge of the driveway. the snow is always deeper and the temperature is cooler in the sugar bush. have a sweet spring!
