Very warm weekend. The maple trees quit flowing because the nights stayed too warm. (More cold weather later will start them again.) It has also been raining. A few flashes of lightning and two rumbles of thunder. Ponds and lakes are open along the edges and the ice mass is shrinking fast. We first noticed the wood frogs hopping across the road. Then we detoured to check for spotted salamanders even though we figured it was too early. Instead we found earthworms on the paved road.
