First bluebonnet blooms were noted at River Bend Nature Center and elsewhere around Wichita Falls following several days of unseasonably high temperatures in the mid to upper 80s. While it is not unheard of for bluebonnets to bloom this early in North Texas, this year's bloom set is about two weeks ahead of average bloom date.
