Tulips EMERGED

Date: 03/12/2009

Number: 1

Today, the air temperature was 53 degrees fahrenheit. It feels a little like spring and a little like winter. We went outside to observe our tulip bulbs. The first bulbs had emerged already. Some new growth, it looked like stems, were 1 centimeter tall up to 4 centimeters tall for the highest growth. We measured the soil temperature and it was 40 degrees fahrenheit. The outside air was warmer. We think the sun outside is warming the air but 7 inches down there is no sunlight. We wonder if any more tulips will emerge this week. We wonder when the tulips will bloom.
