All Other Signs of Spring

Hundreds of Painted Lady butterflies were seen flying throughout parts of Northridge and Granada Hills, CA. I first saw them on California State University Northridge campus, and they could be spotted everywhere as I drove home to Granada Hills along Hayvenhurst and Woodley. They appeared to be traveling West, North, and sometimes North-West, and they were making good time - they were hard to capture on film because of their speed. I first saw them around 1:00 pm, but they may have come through sooner. They could still be seen fluttering a little after 4:00 pm, but after that I was indoors and could not easily watch for them. Temperatures were in the mid to upper eighties around this time of day.
