I saw my first female hummingbird of spring this afternoon (have photo).
March 22
The first MALE rufous hummingbird in my garden showed up shortly before dusk today, four days after the first female. Have photos. There are now half dozen female rufous who have been sparring with the resident Anna's hummingbirds.
Odd behavior of a female rufous hummingbird. It looks like she is "flipping her petticoats."
