Last Saturday, March 21, 2009, enroute to Modesto from Sonora, CA, we encountered hundreds of migrating Painted Ladies flying eastward. We were in the open, rolling hills area between Sonora and Oakdale. What a magnificent sight! The sad part was, we were on a collision course, and there were casualties. We got snow the next day; I hope they were alright.
